An illuminating chart
This chart attempts to plot the economic value—or the value the “market” has assigned, as measured by total compensation—of 50 different professions or jobs against the jobs’ societal value, as measured by satisfaction surveys and public opinion surveys.
I’m pleased to see three jobs listed, from amongst the field of 50, in the insurance industry: Actuary (also seen in limited numbers in benefits and pension plans, fund management generally, and government functions), insurance agent / broker, and insurance underwriter. Not sure if I totally agree with everything here, but it’s not far off, is it?
